Commission of New Compositions for Triorca

As part of the Triorca project, the young musicians of the orchestra will be given the opportunity to play new music especially written for them.

Klikni ovde da se otvori/zatvori verzija na Srpskom jeziku.Young composers in Britain and Serbia are therefore invited to express their interest in submitting a new work for orchestra as specified below.
All applicants must be aged between 16 and 26 years old.

1. An orchestral piece from a Serbian Composer (Activity 4)
Forces:
  • Symphony orchestra of around 60 players (2:2:2:2/4:2:3:1/T1P/Str 12:10:8:6:4) 
  • Length of piece up to 10 mins long
  • Conductor will be Nicholas Daniel
The first performance will take place in Novi Sad, Serbia on 15 December 2012. Venue to be confirmed; but is likely to be either the National Theatre or the Synagogue.

2. An orchestral piece from a British composer (Activity 6)
Forces:
  • Symphony orchestra of around 60 players (2:2:2:2/4:2:3:1/T1P/Str 12:10:8:6:4)
  • Length of piece up to 10 mins long
  • Conductor will be Nicholas Daniel


First performance 10 April 2013 at St Andrews Hall, Norwich then 12 April 2013 at Snape Maltings concert hall, Aldeburgh, Suffolk.
Possible themes for each work:
  1. Britten Centenary year – the work will be performed at Snape Maltings, Aldeburgh
  2. All three cities are on a river
  3. Music that will appeal and inspire young people
  4. Folk themes
  5. European connection
  6. Three Cathedrals

For both commissions we are looking for inspirational ideas that will appeal and motivate the young musicians of Triorca and help them to forge new relationships by playing together; bridging the boundaries of nationality and culture through music.

The fee for each commission is to be confirmed and will be advised on request.
